Fairfax Business Media will be shedding advertising jobs across its BRW and Financial Review Titles. Rumour has it that sales are dismal on both publications. Phil Gallagher, Commercial Director of FBM, will be announcing soon.
Myer quiety announced across the board staff cuts in stores last Friday. The focus seemed to be on older part-time selling staff, many of whom had been with Myer for 20 years or more. Cuts were savage (rumoured to be up to 20% in some underperforming stores), affecting several hundred people across the business.
CMC Markets the controversial CFD provider has this week advised a number of staff that they must sign workplace agreements so that, eg, a person who had fixed pay of $85,000 is now on $45,000 fixed pay and the remaining $40,000 is said to be performance based. Control of all key functions e.g. HR and compliance is now being relocated in the UK with the Aust office being just a sales and service office.
I heard Andrew Symonds will shave his dreadlocks off for the Leukaemia Foundation and that anyone who donates to him might be the one to shave him on TV.
