The Winners: Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation topped the most watched list for Ten at 7.30pm with 1.703 million. Seven News was second with 1.592 million and Ten’s NCIS at 8.30pm was next with 1.558 million. Today Tonight was 4th with 1.506 million and Seven’s 7.30pm program The Zoo averaged 1.487 million. Ten’s MasterChef Australia averaged 1.467 million from 7pm to 7.30pm and Seven’s Find My Family averaged 1.410 million at 8pm. The 9.30pm repeat of NCIS averaged 1.340 million in 8th spot, with Nine News next with 1.312 million. All Saints did well for a second week at 8.30pm with 1.211 million for Seven in 10th, with A Current Affair 11th with 1.2 million. Home and Away was 12th with 1.170 million and the 7pm repeat of Two and a Half Men averaged 1.096 million for Nine. Ten News was 14th with 1.096 million, the 7pm ABC News was 15th with 1.010 million and the 8.30pm episode of Two and a Half Men averaged 1 million viewers. The 9pm episode averaged 962,000. Seven’s 10 Years Younger in 10 Days averaged 862,000 at 9.30pm, but I feel no amount of panel beating can fix its figures.

The Losers: Nine’s Home Made at 7.30 pm and 9.30pm and 901,000 and 720,000. It’s why Nine did poorly last night and Ten and Seven probably were a bit better placed.

News & CA: Seven News again won nationally and in every market but Melbourne where it drew with Nine with 445,000 viewers each (no doubt all eager to learn about the latest Moran shooting and its amazingly stupid aftermath). Today Tonight won everywhere and ACA was a surprising 100,000 behind TT in Sydney, 422,000 to 322,000. No doubt an early dip to black sent viewers to Seven. The 7.30 Report averaged 822,000, Lateline, 202,000, Lateline Business, 128,000. Nine’s late News 171,000. SBS News at 6.30pm, 175,000, 231,000 for the 9.30pm edition. 7am Sunrise, 375,000, 7am Today, 328,000.

The Stats: Ten won the night comprehensively. Its 6pm to midnight All People share was 31.3% (30.3%) from Seven with 27.8% (27.6%), Nine with 22.7% (24.0%), the ABC with 14.2% (14.3%), and SBS with 4.0% (3.7%). Ten won all five metro markets and leads the week with 28.4% from Seven with 26.0% and Nine on 24.9%. In regional areas no such luck again for Ten with its programs watched, but nowhere as popular in the bush. Prime/7Qld won with 29.1% from Southern Cross (Ten) with 26.6%, WIN/NBN with 22.3%, the ABC on 16.6% and SBS on 5.5%.

Glenn Dyer’s comments: As expected Ten won the night easily, Nine threw itself in front of a bus on the night by running two episodes of Home Made and three episodes of Two And A Half Men. Why not the test pattern next? Seven shuffled along. Ten won with MasterChef Australia and NCIS doing well, but the standout was Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation at 7.30pm.

TONIGHT: MasterChef Australia is crying out for an intrusion by The Chaser to lighten it up, but we are still to see what The Chaser looks like under the new review regime at the ABC. Spicks and Specks will be the highlight of the night, after Thank God You’re Here on Seven at 7.30pm.

SBS is a case of check your guides. The ABC’s highlight is the 7pm news and The 7.30 Report, after The Cook And The Chef at 6.30pm. Nine has RPA as the highlight. It also has two hours of Cold Case, which is not doing well and like CSI, is a faded version of its original ideas.
