Fascinating. It just reminded me what a creative blast The Who were.
The comparison with John Hughes work is telling.
RIP and all that. But let’s not pretend that they were ever in the same league.
Nice montage, shame about the choice of music. John Hughes was a master of marrying his films with tunes that were not only of their time, but have stood the test of time, so choosing a so-so tune from a rock relic of the 60s is rather odd. Surely “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” by Simple Minds (from the Breakfast Club OST) would have been more appropriate. Discuss.
Yes, I would have preferred it with Simple Minds too.
Interesting to see it was Macaulay Culkin free. Probably a good thing.
Baba O’Riley – a ’70s rock relic surely Andrew?
Well John Hughes I can take or leave, but I can’t stand silent while some upper-class twits compare a simple minds ditty with one of the best songs from one of the best songwriters played by one of the best rock groups to date.
But Paddy rights the ship by pointing where the two creative forces stand on the great pantheon of creative geniuses.
Simple Minds, indeed!
