The Winners: Seven News was the most watched with 1.394 million and Today Tonight was second with 1.345 million. Nine’s 20 to 1 at 8.30pm averaged 1.335 million and Getaway averaged 1.300 million at 7.30pm. The 7pm repeat of Two and a Half Men averaged 1.160 million; in front of Home and Away with 1.125 million people. Nine News was 7th with 1.104 million and A Current Affair averaged 1.098 million. Ten’s Rush averaged 1.036 million at 8.30pm and the 7pm ABC News averaged 1.001 million in 10th spot. Garry Unmarried started at 7.30pm on Seven, 867,000 people watched. I can’t imagine why. The Amazing Race huffed and puffed and 937,000 people watched at 8.30pm. The 7pm Project on Ten for an hour was a long plug for Celebrity MasterChef, only 776,000 viewers cared. The Footy Shows, 965,000, 414,000 in Melbourne for the AFL Show.

The Losers: Seven has a poor night apart from the News and Today Tonight. For Ten, apart from Rush at 8.30pm, it was also poor.

News & CA: Seven News again won nationally and in every market as did Today Tonight. Nine News and A Current Affair had a slightly stronger week this week than last. The 7.30pm Report averaged 791,000 people, Lateline, 248,000, Lateline Business, 144,000. Ten News, 818,000, the late News/Sports Tonight, 307,000. Nine’s late News, 277,000. SBS News at 6.30pm, 180,000, the 9.30pm edition, 140,000. 7am Sunrise, 381,000, 7am Today, 309,000.

The Stats: Nine won easily with a 6pm to Midnight All People share of 33.1% (30.2%) from Seven with 24.4% (23.7%), Ten with 21.0%, (25.9%), the ABC with 16.8% (15.7%) and SBS with 4.7% (4.9%). Nine won all five metro centres and now trails seven for the week, 27.4% to 28.5% for Seven. The first AFL final tonight will ensure that Seven wins the week. In regional areas a win to WIN/NBN with 32.7%, from Prime/7Qld with 23.8%, Southern Cross (Ten) with 20.6%, the ABC on 17.3% and SBS, 5.5%.

Glenn Dyer’s comments: Gary Unmarried on Seven at 7.30pm is another mostly unfunny American sitcom. No wonder 1.3 million people watched Getaway on Nine instead. Q&A did OK with 490,000.

Digitally, another win for ABC 2. It finished with 1.90%, with the main channel, ABC 1 on 14.90%, Nine’s Go was on 1.60%, the main channel on 31.60%; Ten’s One, 1.30%, Ten’s main channel, 19.70%, SBS Two, 0.40% and SBS One, 4.30%. The digital channel had a share of 5.2%. Seven was on 24.40% as it doesn’t have a separate digital channel yet.

TONIGHT: An AFL Final (in Sydney and Brisbane at 8.30pm), Better Homes and Gardens, both on Seven. The last round of the NRL starts on Nine. George Gently on the ABC if footy’s not your bag. There’s also a one day cricket game involving the losers (Australia) playing England in what could be a day/night game from the UK. Now that will be enlightening, won’t it?

TOMORROW: More AFL (Ten) and NRL on Foxtel. Nine has movies. Seven has the other losers (AKA the Wallabies) playing South Africa from Brisbane. Great Outdoors on Seven at 6.30pm, Funniest Home Videos on Nine in the same slot if you want to bit of mindless TV.

SUNDAY: Seven has an AFL final in sunlight, Nine has NRL in the late afternoon. Then 60 Minutes (it’s a fluffy duck special tonight), plus Rescue Special Ops which is not setting anyone on fire. Midsomer Murders will bore us at 8.30pm on the ABC and will do well again. Seven ends Dancing With The Stars and is running the good movie The Queen at 9pm. Ten has Australian Idol and Rove.
