They know they believe in the U.S.A and Freedom. But what unites the protesters at this American Tea Party parade in Washington DC?
Not much — except their belief that US President Barack Obama is behind all evil: abortion, communism, taxes, health care problems, spending, the bailout, lies.
But former President Jimmy Carter identifies what he thinks is their real unifying cause — racism, pure and simple:
I think it’s bubbled up to the surface because of a belief among many white people not just in the South but around the country … that African-Americans are not qualified to lead this great country. It’s an abominable circumstance and grieves me and concerns me very deeply.
Jon Stewart, meanwhile is concerned what a black president means for white children.
Americans can be very scary and very stoopid at times. Doesn’t say much for the US education system when you see and listen to people like those in the video.
There is certainly an element in the USA that is totally bonkers and very scary and we’ve seen some of them on this video. Let’s hope there aren’t too many more out there. Their level of ignorance is mind-blowing. I wonder what TV news service they watch. References to Glenn Beck in some of the signs might give a clue. I would love to ask them exactly what the word or concept “freedom” means to them.
Did you see all them African-Americans folks protesting along with the white folk? There was like…like heaps…I mean…This is so scary. these white folk really think that Obama is the embodiment of the devil himself.
This reminds me of the Mel Brooks film ‘Blazing saddle’s when the old guy starts yelling out the sherriff in a nig… These people are just racists out and out and can’t stand the fact that an African-American president is in the Whitehouse, not as a servant or slave, but as their Commander-in-Chief and President. Get over it folks and accept the fact that he was democratically elected last year.
freakin scary!
