The Winners: Hey Hey Reunion averaged 2.308 million viewers and the repeat of The Apprentice was second with 1.677 million. Seven News was 3rd with 1.331 million (and it was back in front in Sydney). Today Tonight was the 7pm repeat of Two and a Half Men averaged 1.287 million viewers. A Current Affair recovered to 1.235 million with an interview with Michael Parkinson. Home and Away averaged 1.186 million at 7pm, Border Security, 1.186 million at 7.30pm on Seven, while Nine News was 9th with 1.148 million people. Celebrity MasterChef Australia was 10th with 1.080 million people. City Homicide averaged 876,000 on Seven, Spicks and Specks, 845,000 at 8.30pm the ABC, NCIS Los Angeles, 922,000 and Medical Emergency on Seven at 8pm, 933,000.
The Losers: Nothing really because of the Hey Hey Reunion monster. Hungry Beast at 9pm on the ABC, 539,000.
News & CA: Seven News again won nationally and in every market but Melbourne. ACA won Melbourne and Brisbane (narrowly), but lost Sydney and the rest to Today Tonight. The 7pm ABC News averaged 988,000; The 7.30 Report, 613,000, Lateline, 253,000, Lateline Business, 132,000. Ten News, 741,000, The late News/Sports Night, 455,000. SBS News at 6.30pm on SBS, 167,000, the 9.30pm edition, 120,000. 7am Sunrise, 326,000, 7am Today, 288,000.
The Stats: Nine won with a 6pm to Midnight All People share of 43.3% (40.0%). Seven was next with 20.6% (21.7%), Ten was third with 19.3% (20.8%), then the ABC, 13.7% (13.8%), and SBS, 31.% (3.6%). Nine won all five metro markets (Hey Hey Reunion wasn’t as popular in Adelaide and Perth as on the East coast, but still won handsomely). Nine leads the week 33.4% to 25.8% for Seven.
In regional Australia Nine won through WIN/NBN with 41.8%, from Prime/7Qld with 21.2%, Southern Cross (Ten) with 18.1%, the ABC with 14.1% and SBS with 4.8%.
Digitally: ABC2 won with 1.80%, (ABC 1, 11.90%), from Nine’s Go with 1.30% (42.00% for the main channel), 0.40% for Ten’s One (18.90%) and 0.20% for SBS TWO (2.80% for SBS ONE)
Glenn Dyer’s comments: Nine News in Sydney is promising an “exclusive” for tonight’s 6pm bulletin. How Sydney families are paying $8 million too much on their bills. That’s less than $2 per Sydney resident, or under $10 per family per year. Cheap at the price. Nine and Seven News also followed up the RBA rate rise with reports so light that they had to be anchored to the set.
Hey Hey Reunion‘s second episode did well, over 2.3 million. The black faces skit was terrible. It wasn’t needed. Hey Hey Reunion did help The Apprentice with the repeat averaging 1.6 million, up from 953,000 for the repeat that ran after the first Hey Hey Reunion a week earlier.
Celebrity MasterChef Australia was curiously weak. Who cares about the celebs? It was squashed by Hey Hey Reunion. Will it recover next week?
The Seven Network has confirmed that Chris Bath will read the Monday to Friday 6 pm News in Sydney and Mark Ferguson will read Weekends from 2010. Chris Bath will also co-host Sunday Night at 6.30pm.
TONIGHT: The ABC doco Dead Famous at 8.30pm. Beauty and The Geek on Seven in the same timeslot is new. Getaway on Nine at 7.30pm. Secret Millionaire is new and replaced the Footy Shows. CSI at 8.30pm on Nine. Ten has Rush, perhaps Glee. SBS has My Family Feast and then Costa’s Garden Odyssey. Q&A at 9.30pm.

Last night watched “dangerous jobs for girls” on abc2 where they take high achieving business women and place them in traditional dangerous male dominated jobs. Last week Cuban Cowboy, this week Canadian tree feller. Some of the girls can manage some cannot but the trip is interesting.
Hungry beast seems like another bunch of smart alec kids with too much stage training. I will give it another go but do they need so much inflection?
