Virgin Blue is making money this financial year, but trying to keep a lid on major pending announcements about its brand and new cabin arrangements.
Those were the two key messages from today’s annual general meeting.
Reports also indicate the V Australia has emerged from the storm clouds of an inauspicious entry into the Australia-US markets which perfectly coincided with a Boeing strike that delayed its first three 777-300ERs and the worst of the global financial crisis.
Missing was any more information about the major fleet roll over order for newer Boeing 737s or the possibility it will also acquire the 737-900ER version.
Likewise, the already flagged single branding of the three carriers, Virgin Blue, Pacific Blue and V Australia didn’t get taken further, nor the changes to standard and premium economy that have been the subject of past signals.
But founding CEO Brett Godfrey did say they would be ‘significant’ when they occur.
