Doth he protest too much? As expected Mitch Hooke, Minerals Council of Australia chief executive, hit the airways this morning to slam the super profits tax. But observers in the Canberra lock-up yesterday reportdc that Hooke didn’t look that unhappy when the super profits tax was unveiled. In fact Hooke had a very friendly handshake with Resources and Energy Minister Martin Ferguson who was doing the rounds, leading observers to speculate that maybe the mining industry thinks it is getting off lightly.
NBNco seems to have an interesting HR policy — no contractors are allowed on the books for longer than three months. Either you get converted to a full-time role or your contract expires. But seems many are taking the full-time option as the money on offer is about 40% more than what is available elsewhere in the market. It should make the redundancies very expensive if there is a change in government.
