Opposition Treasury spokesman Joe Hockey might have got it right this morning when he predicted the election would be called this weekend.
So here’s a Crikey competition that Joe might like to enter.
At Crikey we believe in the wisdom of crowds and we know there are none wiser when it comes to matters political than our good readers. Hence a little contest.

My understanding is that the election is likely prior to the October Long Weekend, as Ms Gillard will want to strike while the goodwill period is still happening and no one likes elections on long weekends.
@ Michael James
Highly unlikely, it’s the weekend of the NRL grand final and only a week after the AFL grand final. Politicians planning elections avoid these like the plague.
She wont pick September 11 either……too much bad karma
