Quote of the day:
“Snitchy piece in OZ re PM’s earlobes. Written by ‘award winning’ journalist Kate Legge. She demeans herself and women with this stuff.” — @PremierMikeRann
The South Australian Premier takes a swipe at Legge’s piece in The Australian today, entitled: ‘The ears have it, in a deluge of distraction from campaign themes’.
Yes, it’s an entire article devoted to Julia Gillard’s large ear lobes, with lines like “…she’ll soon start to resemble Star Trek’s Dr Spock”; “disbelief that such ‘epic’ pounces of skin have gone unnoticed till now”; and our favourite “like it or lobe it”. (Actually, we’ll pay that one.)
News Corporation is scrupulously even-handed in devoting space to correspondents of right-wing or left-wing persuasion. The way they manage it, the left-wingers get more space between elections and they make it up to the right-wingers by giving them more space at election time. The trouble is, when there isn’t enough good material to go round, they have to descend to this sort of stuff to fill their quota. (Is mockertariat a good word to describe the correspondents who write it or are we totally bored with so many ..ariats).
