we have hand raised a magpie this year – it was knocked out of its nest by a channel-bill cockoo – and let me say that “maggie” knows we are frightened and weary too…it rules the roost at our joint – buddy and fly – the two border collies tolerate it, the two cats – which don’t deserve naming here, or at any time really – are scared of it and this bird has us so well trained that it gets feed, first and foremost, everytime…i am afraid to sit down at home for too long – as i too wouldn’t be surprised to find myself being sized-up as a potential meal…
yep weary indeed
cheers for now

Is that reference to koolaid stained lips a Dune reference?
It is by will alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the juice of sapho that thoughts acquire speed, the lips acquire stains, the stains become a warning. It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.

FD, you’ve done it again !
Captured the essentialessencenessocity of the nation’s capital. It’s a natural history museum, just before closing time on the Friday of an eternal long weekend.
It will probably open again soon sometime. Even tomorrow. But would anyone care ?
As for news reporting the new low for me was the ring-in front of 7.30 reportistan who asks really penetrating tear-jerker questions of young Dade McCabbage (international mine collapse watcher) in Greymouth.
I just wanted to pound both of them.
“The people of Greymouth look very distressed, Dade”
“Yes Jacinder-Louise, this is a town deep in sad emotion”.
For f*ck’s sake people. This is not news. It’s not useful reporting. It’s real life turned into some third rate soap opera – by JERK-offs like YOU .
P*ss off and take that annoying twat in the victim support jacket with you.

Possibly because I’ve stepped out more…into ‘my’ backyard…inverted commas…I have to share with neighbours…siggggghhhhh…but I have noticed maggies and they in a tetchy mood scrabbling at my back door again…how wonderful there was a maggie corpse in ‘my’…(I am one of the great unwashed homeless living in inadequate accomm…that was not a promotion)…backyard and First Dog saw it as a limitless possibility to cartoon into a Great Work of Art from the Centre of the Last Gasp of our Political Breath… nooo… megalomania….who me….fear is just another word for ducking magpies…nothing Firsty could be sadder you feel this national malaise for me.
That’s a scary funny cartoon ❗
