future_tvThe Age this week asked what television will look like in ten years time. Posing the question to a number of media professionals, they received a number of answers. Some of them insightful, others simply predicting viewing habits and developments that are already in place.

What will TV look like in ten years? I have no idea. And at the rate of technological development impacting upon evolution, I don’t think anyone can really say. 3D immersive environments? Maybe. Cloud-based video collections and streaming content as the dominant distribution? Quite likely. We can certainly look ahead into the next five years and say with relative certainty that we’ll see more in terms of IPTV and widgetised television sets.

All I know is that it is 2010 and I still don’t own a jetpack.
