Dear jebus, we’re almost at December.

Obviously the big news of the morning is Wikileaks’ reveal of US embassy cables around the world, including many embarrassing revelations. The Wikileaks site itself doesn’t seem to be loading for me, but I doubt that means the US complaints about “breaking US law” means it’s going to disappear.

Is this material appropriate to leak? Is there a public right to know all the sordid details of how governments talk with each other, or will this just unnecessarily harm diplomatic relations for little gain? Or is some of the material – like the more sneaky and threatening ways in which the US embassies operate – important to expose?

There was also a state election on the weekend, obviously, but it already has its own thread.
