Vale to Norman Hetherington, the creator of Mr Squiggle. It was the show that brought us the catchcries of “Hurry up” and “Upside down, upside down”. Watch Mr Squiggle draw “a very fashionable pig, wearing a donut for an earring, glasses — rimless — and a tie”. Of course.

Mr Squiggle was a champion – likewise the original hostess, Miss Pat (Patricia Lovell).
I have a friend prone to urging people to ‘hurry up’ who has been given the appropriate nickname, ‘Blackboard’.
I loved Mr Squiggle when I was younger and then my daughters developed the same fascination. When they were littlies (now 23 & 25) we even took them to a live show that they thought was wonderful. What an entreating & creative man Norman Heatherington was.
I had the pleasure of interviewing Norm for a school project back in the early 90s. He was a true gent, a gifted artist and was incredibly generous with his time for all kids. A legend a Australian television. RIP.
Ahhh Norman (Mr Squiggle), we’ll miss you.
And Miss Pat, was my favourite.
