All is not well in the NAB bunker. For some time now, NAB’s business operation has subsidised NABs underperforming Retail Bank, however NAB’s business bankers are fuming that the company’s grab for retail share has resulted in competitors Westpac and the Commonwealth Bank lining up NABs Business Banking cash cow in return. Internal relations between NAB Business and NAB Retail are frosty — will the NAB “break-up” actually be a lot closer to home?

Staff see red as manager plays green. A manager in the soon-to-be-closed Telstra call centre in Moe is charging up the leader board in the world’s worst boss competition. With 114 jobs under threat, staff are naturally concerned about redundancy arrangements, entitlements and redeployment. They were expecting their centre manager to step up and provide advice and support. Not this fella.

As confusion and anxiety swept through the office, he bunkered down in his office, pulled out his putter and practiced his three foot hole-outs. And in another lucky stroke, it appears the same manager secured himself a transfer to a safe Telstra job in Melbourne, two weeks before the telco announced it was winding up the Moe centre. Telstra spends millions trying to convince us it is a decent corporate citizen. With people such as this in leadership roles, it’s good money, after bad. A Facebook page has been set up to fight for the Moe jobs.

NSW Greens not listening to Bob on postals … Greens leader Bob Brown has had this to say about political parties being involved in the postal vote process: “Irrespective of whether deadlines for the close of the electoral roll are extended, this practice of double-handling presents the very real risk of electors not being enrolled before the close of rolls. This practice is also being used by political parties to harvest voter information without their knowledge or consent. “Party” PVAs contain a return address to a local or state-based campaign postal address, where electors’ information is recorded before the information is passed on to the AEC. This diminishes, rather than enhances electors’ enfranchisement.”

The Greens in Marrickville  don’t agree. I have received a glossy postal vote application in my secure letterbox — return address The Greens NSW. The postal vote material also included a very negative letter from the Greens candidate Fiona Byrne about the Labor candidate Carmel Tebbutt. Is the scent of victory causing the Greens to abandon principles just like every other political party?

… and taking media advice from Labor. Senior NSW Greens, including David Shoebridge MLC and NSW senator-elect Lee Rhiannon, were looking relaxed as they sat down for coffee alongside one of their media spinners and a former ALP staffer — now working for a lobbying outfit in Sydney. I’ve been told they are getting some media and strategy advice from this ex-ALP hack who now charges by the hour?

Did Mulder ask the right myki questions? When Victorian transport minister Terry Mulder briefed Deloitte on the myki public transport ticketing review (by himself, without the support of his public servants) did he forget to ask them to do any costings, or just decide he didn’t need new costings when launching a root and branch review?
