The Winners: Seven’s night, though much closer than Sunday. Offspring, Ten, 8.30pm, 954,000. It has a touch of Scrubs about it at times. No Ordinary Family on Seven at 7.30pm, 821,000. No really solid enough.

The Losers: Rescue Special Ops on Nine at 8.30pm: 775,000 for the first episode, 735,000 for the second episode at 9.30 pm (which was actually better than the first). That Nine is running fresh episodes back to back tells us the network is short of programs and wants to be rid of this one as quickly as possible. House, Ten, 9.30pm, 503,000. Stand clear.

News & CA: Today has its first win for the week over Sunrise on a Monday, on low figures for both. Will another follow? Seven News and TT lost Melbourne, won the rest comfortably.

Glenn Dyer’s comments: A reasonable night of viewing, but there were again 35% of all viewers not watching the main channel offers from the five networks.

MasterChef had 558,000 viewers in regional areas which mean that with the season high 1.637 million in the five metro markets, the national audience was a very tasty 2.195 million viewers. Good expulsion last night.

The first episode of Downton Abbey a week ago Sunday saw its five market metro audience jump to 2.049 million when adding in 243,000 time-shifted viewers (an increase of 13.5%) over the past seven days. That is one of the highest time shifted audience figures we have seen, beaten only by a couple of episodes of Angry Boys.

TONIGHT: Australia’s Got Talent and Winners & Losers for Seven. The “skinny” MasterChef on Ten followed by Bondi Vet and NCIS. Nine has fading Sea Patrol. The ABC has Foreign Correspondent. SBS has Insight.
