A disturbing increase in normalcy in political coverage

Another disturbing increase in normalcy, with state politics continuing to take up a greater proportion of the political discussion and Tony Abbott back to second after making a splash pretty much on his first day back.

The miners v farmers controversy also pushed Bob Brown right up into the top five and helped make Bob Katter the biggest mover, while many traditional Liberals were in quiet apoplexy at the perceived agrarian socialism of Abbott’s comments and Brown’s immediate support.

Penny Wong’s impending parenthood moved her well up, while Bob Katter also had plenty to say on gay marriage. The Government probably won’t be too distressed to see Greg Combet slip off the list this week, as the carbon price issue continues to slowly drift down the news list, notwithstanding rallies and ad campaigns.

The SA interregnum also moved down, while Colin Barnett continues to spout forth on any issue that takes his fancy as the senior Liberal government leader in the land.

Tony Abbott leapt to the top, almost entirely thanks to the blogerati commenting on the miners v farmers issue, getting almost twice as many comments as Julia Gillard, who maintained a big lead on talkback, still thanks mainly to Malaysia and carbon.
