I think Miley’s been reading the Aussie Artist and blogger James DeWeaver who’s blog ,if i remember correctly was “the silence of pop stars is deafening” and related to the “pop stars”of today like Miley who don’t do what their in a position to do ,because they serve their corporate masters,and themselves by enlarge,and as DeWeaver puts it,i won’t try to even attempt.He hates the 1%’ers,and is my favourite artist of his generation,X that is,and his mate BANKSY of course,who on DeWeaver’s website-jamesdeweaver.com in an “installation”by American photographer Spencer Tunick.
I think kronic bee is totally correct with what was said about little miss cyrus,and i have read James DeWeaver’s blog on the subject,and i think he’s right on about that,today’s “pop stars”(big jokes) are nothing like the ones of the past,all the ones DeWeaver mentioned,and i do agree with him on why they don’t do what their in the position to do!The media has blackballed a genius ,purely because he writes the truth and they don’t like it,even rupert murdoch catches it from DeWeaver,a ruthless commentator on today’s occupy movement in Australia,who’s web page i’ve sent to ALL of my friends and contacts!Others who agree should do the same,our society can’t afford to censor people like the Artist James DeWeaver,who gives a hoot about a voiceless BANKSY,not me!
Looking at the images, the clip seems to be supporting unspecified recent popular protests, and the “occupy” movement springs to mind. Yet the words are pure American dream, individualism, be your self, do what you want, screw everyone else, and so forth. One of the many problems with this philosophy are that corporations have come to be defined as “people” to be afforded the liberty to trash the planet and entire economies. This is what the “occupy” movement is protesting about! In other words Miley seems to be cashing in on images which are in total contradiction to the message in the lyrics. Perhaps she is not aware of that. She is young, wealthy and privileged, after all.
As a former musician, once involved in the pop music industry, the first thing I noticed was the, to my taste, absolutely terrible music. I loathe and detest “tick, tock” rythm tracks. Then there are the cliche’d multi tracked voice and samplings. I did find a clip of a live performance where they had a real drummer and harmony singers. It sounded so much better.
