Say goodbye to coal power stations
A brilliant ad from a UK green electricity company, which demonstrates the sad but inevitable end to cooling towers.
article-article-body
This is the sort of mindless crap peddled by green activists which bears no relationship to economic or social reality.. Whether you like it or not, windmills cannot provide 24/baseload power which requires access to a significant thermal source either coal, gas or nuclear powered. To maximise efficiency, each of these technologies requires some form of cooling source in the form of cooling towers or cooling ponds.
Perhaps the green activists could cut themselves off from national power grids and live entirely on renewable energy, thereby providing a suitable example for the rest of us to follow. This would include precluding access to any product based on non-renewable thermal energy including steel, aluminium copper and of course any form of motorised transport absorbing such energy either as fuel or in its construction.
Facile symbolic advertising implying that a few windmills can replace normal power stations will of course appeal to febrile Greens who are still living in air-conditioned houses and driving their four-wheel drives to tree hugging demonstrations, but will be viewed with contempt by the substantial majority of consumers who understand that their lifestyle is underpinned by relatively cheap thermal energy, and that the long run solutions are far more complex including in all probability nuclear power.
A rolled gold, absolute gem.
I’m with you, Paddy. What a welcome relief this is from the mountain of US election bull. Did you know that the Pig’s Arms psephologist has already predicted the outcome of the US presidential elections to save us more pain ? Check it out !
I didn’t know that, Mike, but thanks for the spam!
They stopped the ad before the part where the wind mills chopped up all of the birds.
