To disagree is to betray, says Pascoe. This brain-fart of an opinion article was the top story on The Age‘s website last night …
Seriously, “treason”? Just because Michael Pascoe disagrees with certain political policies? I disagree with Michael’s hyperbole about the carbon price, but since he doesn’t give any meaningful explanation of why it’s “extreme”, there’s not much that can be added. But anyway, I wouldn’t call the people who disagree with me “traitors”. How is that a lead story? — Jeremy Sear of Pure Poison
Mmm… Tasty, tasty man nuts. You may seen these posters advertising an ice cream bar. I’ve quizzed friends, none of whom have managed either a convincing rationale or a straight face …
Can anyone explain this slogan? What is the ice-cream-consumer appeal in the idea of Licking Cold Man Nuts? Is it being deployed in Bob Katter’s electorate? You might as well have an ice cream flavour called Tea Bag. — W.H. Chong of Culture Mulcher
Front page of the day. Just when you thought there couldn’t be another twist in the phone hacking tale …

“Rupert Murdoch told Sun journalists that the investigation by News Corporation’s management and standards committee into alleged corrupt payments and other acts of illegality at the tabloid has almost concluded, in an email sent to reporters.” — The Guardian
Marie Colvin laid to rest in New York
“Rupert Murdoch joined scores of mourners paying their respects to war correspondent Marie Colvin at an intimate funeral in the New York community where she first decided to become a reporter.” — The Daily Mail
Harper’s publisher: why the internet has ruined publishing
“Harper’s, I remind everyone, is available across all platforms (oh, how I hate the sound of that phrase) and you can pay for it on your iPad or read it on your computer screen. For the most part, readers have stopped complaining about our pay wall, thank goodness, and I’m delighted to be selling 15,000 or so subscriptions a year on our website. But I’m still offended by the whole internet pretension of universality, freedom, and democracy …” — Providence Journal
