NSW community grants delayed. Community groups in NSW are asking why Premier Barry O’Farrell has delayed announcing the latest Community Building Partnership grants. We understand O’Farrell first extended the applications process until November last year and then said he would announce the grants late last month.”Many community groups are waiting to hear whether they will be able to start their projects or will need to look elsewhere for funding,” according to our source.

It’s unclear how long they will have to wait. We spoke to the infoline at the Community Building Partnerships office and was told it’s “imminent”. Calls to the Premier’s office weren’t returned by deadline.

The Shire a Ten Network drama? The Ten Network is pushing ahead with The Shire, it’s Jersey Shore-style reality show, despite objections from the mayor and residents of Sydney’s southern beaches. Perhaps, suggests one insider, that’s partly because the network might try and claim drama quote points for the show. If some of the show is scripted — and that seems likely — the show could help Ten hit its regulated hours of home-grown “drama” for the year. “Ten is bound to test how toothless ACMA may be,” says our source. We asked a spokesperson at Ten but didn’t hear back.

Never-nudes at Melbourne AFL club. And from the 3AW Rumour File: “Caller Steve Allan says political correctness in the AFL community has taken a new step with one club advising players to take showers with their jocks on, so as not to embarrass the girls.” Jocks on! Doesn’t seem particularly hygienic to us …

Libs on environment: all hot air? Still in Melbourne, a Crikey reader spotted this after drying their hands at a Flinders Street Station toilet yesterday. It takes political campaigning to new lows …
