It was a good start, but he should have continued kicking them out.
Slipper is an adept Speaker and has markedly improved discipline in the House. Part of the reason is that he doesn’t court popularity – he realises most MPs are already offside. This means he can be objective and not fear the consequences.
I have to admit, I was rather concerned about the ability of Mr Slipper as Speaker, but he has done a very good job. I look forward to Question Time.
