Wow. I just checked out the Guides Australia homepage to verify FD’s rendition of the existing pledge (spot on, FD, as usual), but while there, I learned the name of the Guides’ global umbrella organisation – “World Association for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts” (WAGGGS). Conspiracy, much? If you had to name a secret world government, you really couldn’t do better than that.

Surely nobody took the g0d bit and the stuff about ERII too seriously. Just like the prayer in Parliament before Question Time.
As a non-Girl Guide I used to climb trees but never ate rocks or dirt. Although for experimental reasons I once ate the cat’s mince.

In the good old days a bloke wasn’t abused when offering a seat to a “lady”.
In the good old days young ladies did not offer their seat to me.
Magnificent work today FD.
BTW I’m almost certain their original diet was *sticks* and dirt. (More fibre.)
Plus, I also checked out the original pledge and Wikipedia. came up with this gem.
[Originally the girls were called Rosebuds, but were renamed by Lord Baden-Powell after the girls had complained that they didn’t like their name.]
