In a major and shocking development, we have learnt today that a senior staffer in the office of an Opposition Leader odds-on to be the next prime minister could be an arrogant dickhead, inclined to dish out threats to people who displeased him, right in front of journalists …
Apparently it’s director of policy Dr Mark Roberts. It’s been reported he said it to Australian Indigenous Education Foundation head Andrew Penfold. He’ll probably be sacked by the end of the day. He probably should be. Regardless, it will be the conversation for the next 48 hours.
But there’s no broader issue here, folks. No questions on Abbott’s leadership. Leaders can establish guidelines and office cultures but, as the saying goes, you can’t legislate for stupidity.
