Another nice hour of being entertained from 8.30pm on ABC1 with Upper Middle Bogan and It’s A Date. Upper Middle Bogan averaged 1.196 million national/ 823,000 metro/376,000 regional viewers; It’s A Date, 1.085 million national/ 744,000 metro/ 341,000 regional viewers. Both highlights of the week, along with the hour and a bit on ABC1 on Wednesdays with Gruen Nation and The Hamster Decides. Asher Keddie and Stephen Curry were top rate in It’s A Date, although the ending was flat.
Catalyst’s special report on modern physics/astrophysics averaged 1.012 million national/ 683,000/ 329,000 regional viewers, which is you think about it, is a fantastic figure for a program that is considered ‘highbrow’. Fancy dark energy/matter, a ‘ fine tuned universe’ , string theory, quantum physics, and more speculative and real stuff interesting over a million viewers across the country. Last night’s episode wasn’t a serious version of Nine’s The Big Bang Theory either.
Nine won the night in the metros. Seven had another magician Dynamo, it must be Thursday. He averaged 1.560 million national/ 968,000 metro/ 592,000 regional viewers. Nine’s veteran attempt at bogan culture (aka The Footy Show) averaged 1.2011 million national/866,000 metro/ 346,000 regional viewers for 90 minutes from 8.30pm and won the night. In fact it was the big win in Melbourne by Nine that got it home in metro markets after Seven had big wins in Adelaide and Perth. Nine also won Sydney. Seven’s line up proved more attractive to regional viewers and the network had a big win over Nine.
Home and Away (coastal bogan?) averaged 1.511 million national/ 938,000 metro/ 573,000 regional viewers. Now that’s the regular winner.
