Seven won easily in metro and regional markets as the finals of The X Factor and Sunday Night completely dominated. Nationally Seven had the top four programs, all with more than two million viewers across the nation. Seven actually had a bigger win last night than Nine did a week ago with the NRL Grand Final. During the day, the Global Warming 1000 (AKA Bathurst 1000) averaged more than two million viewers and many more from around 4pm onward as the race entered its final laps.

The X Factor had 2.699 million national (1.811 million metro/888,000 regional) viewers. Sunday Night had 2.404 million national (1.563 million metro/841,000 regional) viewers. The Bathurst 1000 had 2.018 million national (1.263 million metro/755,000 regional) viewers. The Bathurst post-race stuff helped boost Seven News at 6pm to 2.230 million national (1.468 million metro/782,000 regional) viewers.

Nine’s contenders, the finals of Australia’s Got Talent and 60 Minutes were weak in comparison. Talent‘s audience again fell, despite being in the finals. It will be lucky to return in 2014 and has been an expensive mistake for Nine.  It managed 1.147 million national (801,000 metro/346,000 regional) viewers. Simply not enough. 60 Minutes wasn’t helped by that lead-in and therefore had a weak night with 1.389 million national (1.006 million metro/383,000 regional viewers.

In metro markets, Ten slipped ahead of the ABC with the fresh Modern Family episode, with 987,000 national (724,000 metro/263,000 regional) viewers, but Elementary spluttered with 896,000 national (667,000 metro/229,000 regional) viewers. In the regions, Ten was easily beaten by the ABC for yet another night.
