Seven’s My Kitchen Rules last night was the nicest episode so far. Are the Adelaide mums the winners? Nationally My Kitchen Rules had 2.720 million/1.911 million metro/ 809,000 regional viewers – and crushed the opposition. My Kitchen Rules gave The Blacklist a solid lead in, and it showed with 1.424 million national/ 909,000 metro/ 515,000 regional viewers. Nine’s The Block had a soft night by its standards with 1.461 million national/964,000 metro/ 497,000 regional viewers. Seven won metro and regional markets and again dominated the major demos.

I for one am glad that Shaun Micallef remains as  Mad As Hell as he was last year. The gold Abbott statue gag and intro about the ABC was spot on. He was also responsible for the  TV comment of the year so far when introducing a grab from the Prime Minister, who he said had appeared on “rival news parody program, Wake Up.” Ouch!

The second episode of the new Look Spicks and Specks was on ABC1 last night and as we oldies know, include an old rocker/muso in the cast and the program rocks along — and so it was last night with Suzi Quatro. A big improvement from the first episode last week. Incidentally, Lawrence Mooney was a panelist on last night’s show at 8.30pm, and the 7pm repeat of an old episode of the first series on ABC2. The talent pool can be  a small pond at times.

Today had another sub-300,000 metro audience while Sunrise was on 354,000. Seven is throwing money at Sunrise, offering $200,000 a day this week. What with the money for Schapelle Corby and the Sunday Night interview for Simon Gittany’s girlfriend, it’s as though Seven has discovered a secret stash of loot and is throwing it around like the proverbial sailor.
