With The Block Glasshouse in the lineup last night, plus the strong 6 to 7pm performance of the news, Nine was always going to be the winner last night in overall, the main channels and in the demos. The Block Glasshouse had 1.521 million national/ 1.062 million metro/ 459,000 regional viewers last night, second nationally and second in the metros and second in the regionals behind Nine News.
Nine News won Sydney by 81,000, Melbourne by 84,000 and Brisbane by 40,000. Sunrise had 360,000 metro viewers in the morning, Today, 292,000 and yet another weak number for Nine’s high profile program. Ten’s The Bachelor had its fourth outing last night of this series. It remains a program of questionable value. Its national audience was 772,000, down from 791,000 a week ago.

Losers: Viewers generally wanting a little more out of the TV programs last night. Yes, we had the news, yes we had the “reality programs” and yes we had a bit of this and a bit of that, but anything memorable? Well, there was The Roast on ABC2. And I didn’t stay up to watch Sam Newman make a goose of himself on the AFL Footy Show on Nine. It is broadcast after the NRL version in Sydney and my bed time is more important than the limelight-seeking Newman’s antics.Metro news and current affairs:
