Nine’s night in the metros and regionals. It was a less than enthusing night, except for the solid debut of The War That Changed Us on ABC at 8.30pm with 734,000 national/ 505,000 metro/ 229,000 regional viewers. It demanded more. A fine production with good storytelling, using the soldier’s words from diaries and letters. I hope the ABC goes on to expand this technique to tell the story of the Western front, the desert campaign in Palestine and the great conscription battles back home from 1915-16 onwards.
Nine’s The Block Glasshouse topped the most watched lists with 1.713 million national/ 1.192 million metro/ 521,000 regional viewers. The program is in that part of the build this week that every owner builder has been through — the boring stuff with the occasional disaster to give you sleepless nights, but which for other people is totally boring. Who wants to know about your plumbing problems or cracked tiles, we’ve got a concrete pore tomorrow, or the hole in the backyard has just filled with water and mud! Been there, done that, don’t want to go there again.
Seven’s Bringing Sexy Back seems to have caught on with viewers (much to my surprise). Its audience for episode two last night jumped to 1.210 million national viewers with 734,000 metro and 476,000 regional viewers. For the debut a week ago it had 1.064 million national/ 654,000 metro/ 410,000 regional viewers. It is The Biggest Loser with a bit of pizazz and a far more appealing host in Sam Armytage. Sexy was the 10th most watched program in metro markets and the fourth most watched in the regionals, which is a bit of a surprise given their resistance to programs such as The Biggest Loser.
