Nine’s night thanks to The Block Glasshouse and a solid performance of the 6-7pm news hour. That was in the metros, in the regions, the split re-appeared after popping up on Sunday night. So Seven won the regions narrowly overall, but with a larger margin in the main channels. Ten was third in both areas and the ABC fourth.
The Block Glasshouse averaged 1.775 million/ 1.211 million metro/ 563,000 regional viewers and was the most watched program in all markets. Winners & Losers, Bringing Sexy Back and Home and Away all had higher ratings in regional areas proportionately than they did in the metros, and that helped push Seven to the lead last night. Winners & Losers at 8.45pm saw Seven move in front of Nine which started To Catch A Smuggler at 8.40pm (a very soft National Geographic Channel program based at JFK in New York). Winners & Losers had 1.236 million national/ 770,000 metro/ 467,000 regional viewers, while Smuggler had 916,000 national/ 637,000 metro/ 279,000 regional viewers, well behind Winners and Losers.
In the morning Sunrise’s US jaunt again delivered a big win as Today’s average fell back under 300,000 viewers. Sunrise had 384,000 metro viewers, Today had 287,000. Nine’s headache continues. At 6pm NIne News beat Seven in Sydney by 54,000; Melbourne by 114,000 and by 63,000 in Brisbane. Seven News won Adelaide and Perth by the usual large margins.
