Seven won Total People in metro and regional markets (streeted Nine actually in the regions), the ABC was third and Ten a weak fourth). ABC TV management did the right thing yesterday and gave Mad As Hell another season, and Shaun Micallef the starring role in a new series  where he plays a struggling former PM  — so plenty of role models to choose from. Nine says it won the demos, despite the huge move to digital channels.

Nine News won the 6pm battle in Sydney (75,000), Melbourne (65,000) and Brisbane (by just 2,00o). Seven won Adelaide and Perth by margins big enough for the metro market win. In the morning though another very weak performance by Today with 290,000 — well behind Sunrise on Seven with 387,000 metro viewers.
