Hey Presto. Foxtel’s Presto is the second of several video-on-demand streaming services to announce its release plans this year. It will be live from January 18 (i.e. this Sunday) — and now we know how much it’ll cost. The streaming service, the result of a joint venture between Foxtel and Seven West Media, will start its prices at $9.99 a month for access to either movies or TV, with a combined package costing $14.99 a month. It’s one cheaper than competitor Stan, announced by Nine Entertainment Co and Fairfax last year, which will give subscribers both movies and TV shows for $10 a month. Netflix hasn’t announced its prices yet.
It’s been a busy week for video on demand. Cricket Australia has also announced a deal with Apple TV to allow viewers to stream matches, though not live. — Paul Millar
