Amid all the celebrating at Ten today over the success of the Formula One Grand Prix and I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here, perhaps CEO/chairman Hamish McLennan could manage to send a case of Bolly to the chaps over at Seven for thanks that Kerry Stokes’ troops didn’t go hard and continue running The Beast (aka My Kitchen Rules) on Sunday nights. MKR is absolutely dominating Monday to Thursday nights, but started the year with a couple of Sunday outings. Had MKR continued to run on Sundays it would have been a very different story for Nine’s The Block and I’m A Celebrity.

In metro markets Nine won from Seven and Ten, In regionals though, Seven got up narrowly from Nine, with Ten a fair way back in third spot. Nine did very well in the major demos in metro markets — because The Beast was resting in its lair. The Block averaged 1.556 million nationally (WIN didn’t break the ratings coding down into the ordinary program and the room reveals, which did better in metro TV markets than the rest of the program. For that reason the room reveals probably got a higher audience, but it is impossible to work out). I’m A Celebrity’s winner’s announcement of Freddy Flintoff averaged 1.512 million, and the rest of the program averaged 1.296 million, for an episode average of a very solid 1.402 million.

The car races on Ten kept the Bolter from national TV yesterday. But no one really cared as Insiders again proved to be dominant on ABC1. Thank you for only one use of the word “conversation”, which was used in context. Tonight it’s back to normal for Ten, and for this week. The big test for the network is whether viewers stay with Ten or decamp to The Block or MKR.
