Four Corners was all it was claimed to be: a very solid report on the operations and employment practices of 7-Eleven — and absent were the relevant ministers, including Senator Eric Abetz (Employment), Bruce Billson (Small Business), Peter Dutton (Immigration, oh, he was mouthing off against Fairfax Media and struggling to open that email from Border Force). Four Corners ended up with 1.354 million national viewers and easily won its 8.30pm time slot. In fact, from 8pm until 10.35pm, the ABC was the most watched network. Australian Story was also solid with 1.384 million national viewers, Q&A had 919,000 and Media Watch 1.183 million (how galling that must be for the pack of hacks at News Corp, especially The Australian).
While Nine won the night in the metros from Seven, in the main channels the ABC finished second behind Nine and beat Seven into third, with Ten a weak fourth. In the regions, the ABC was third behind Seven and then Nine, with Ten again a weak fourth.
In the morning Sunrise started the week with a win over Today, 329,000 metro viewers to 301,000. News Breakfast had a sharp jump in its audience to 159,000 with 110,000 watching on ABC1 and 49,000 on News 24.
