Just another slogan
John Richardson writes: Re. “Day 1 of Nauru High Court case: when is detention not detention?” (yesterday). So it came to pass in the land of the three word slogan, where shit sometimes happens, that the Ministry of Truth decreed “detention is not detention”. Meanwhile, the government of the 21st century announced a stronger Australia, built on hope, reward and opportunity, the abolition of penalty rates and a secret magic “foundation stone” sold to us by our “special friends”. And the band kept playing “You’ll come a-Waltzing Matilda with me”.
The MH370 saga continues
Jeff Ash writes: Re. “Was MH370 a CIA plot to save drone spy tech from the Chinese?” (yesterday). Given what is in the public realm about the CIA’s operations I have no doubt whatsoever that they would be capable of executing the described plan. If anything I would say the truth is something far darker.
I think, John Richardson, that in the land of the three-word slogan, the Ministry of Truth would have decreed “Detention is Liberation” or maybe “Detention is Freedom”.
