Heywood, Middleton get new gigs. The Courier-Mail has a new editor, and it’s not a name we or others considered. Lachlan Heywood, Townsville Bulletin editor, has been promoted up to Brisbane, with the Daily Tele’s deputy editor Ben English replacing him at the Bulletin. Heywood spent four years at the Bulletin — before that he was deputy editor of the Sunday Mail and chief of staff at the Courier-Mail.
Friday was a big day for media announcements. At The Saturday Paper, former SBS political correspondent Karen Middleton is replacing Sophie Morris as chief political correspondent. Morris is moving to Perth after two years covering Canberra for The Saturday Paper.

Another Head of State lost in the ocean? If you mean Harold Holt, he was a Head of Government, not State. Never mind, ABC24 recently spent most of its limited coverage of the CHOGM (Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting) in Valetta referring to Commonwealth Heads of State at the meeting, apparently oblivious to the meaning of the acronym.
