Seven’s night, again as My Kitchen Rules won the night with the start of the third group of home cooks, and the new surprise judge, Rachel Khoo, whose ID was blabbed last week anyway, so no great suspense.

Seven was again dominant, winning metro and regional markets by huge margins. MKR had nearly 2.3 million national viewers and 1.570 million metros and 705,000 regional viewers. Home and Away again did well, second nationally with more than 1.42 million viewers.

Australia’s Got Talent on Nine and I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here on Ten both battled away without much impact. MKR is too dominant. Talent struggled to 985,000 national (683,000 metro) viewers, while Celebrity had 964,000 national and 685,000 metro viewers. Both are not really acceptable for the cost involved. Celebrity’s metro audience target this year is an average of 800,000 a night — it does that on Thursday nights, but when MKR on, it undershoots badly.

The five most watched programs in regional markets were: MKR, 705,000; Home and Away, 512,000; Downton Abbey, 423,000; Australian Story, 390,000; The Chase Australia (5.30pm), 385,000.

In breakfast, Sunrise started  the week with a tiny win, 309,000 to 307,000 for Today, and a bigger win nationally, 513,000 to 451,0000
