My Kitchen Rules meant it was another case of Seven rules in last night’s ratings battle.

Ten started a family reunion program called Long Lost Family (and naturally the Ancestry website, that perennial advertiser during day time TV, was a big advertiser). It averaged 856,000 national and 564,000 metro viewers

The ABC started Luke Warm Sex. The ratings were also lukewarm at best with 715,000 national and 483,000 metro. Genteel titters all round? The big question for these two newbies (like Seven Year Switch the night before) is how many first-up viewers will return next week and the week after, and will new viewers pop up?

MKR’s audience dipped under 2 million nationally last night (1.9431 million) with another Masterchef – like episode. Viewers want the home restaurants, not a clone of another program. But MKR’s audience was more than 600,000 larger than second placed Nine and Seven News.

Regional top 5 were: MKR with a strong 633,000 people; Home and Away with 480,000; The 5.30pm part of The Chase Australia with 403,000; Nine News with 373,000 and First Dates with 357,000 (which had 1.095 million national and 738,000 metro viewers, which were another solid set of figures).

Stop the presses: Sunrise (305,000) beat Today (302,000) in the metros and nationally. Maekfeking relieved?
