More Rio games, more solid audience figures for Seven. Ten and Nine were weak, but SBS and the ABC held up, especially the latter with its solid Monday night line up. In fact the ABC finished second overall and in the main channels last night,a tribute to its high quality programs, unlike the tosh on Ten and Nine.

Seven won the metros and the regions and all the demos. The ABC’s line up the –News, 7.30, Australian Story, Four Corners, Media Watch, Q&A and Lateline all did well up against the games. Seven’s main hostings are all from Sydney (Redfern) — looks like from Rio, doesn’t it? Seven said it had another 3.1 million streams yesterday, despite all those stories about the dodgy app and stream.

And that was the night. The Women’s Rugby Seven’s gold medal today was a great result for team sports and for women’s sports. Remember commentators, they are women, not girls, OK? And to beat the Kiwis in Rugby union — nirvana!
