It was Seven’s night in both metro and regional markets as MKR had a far stronger night than a week ago (while Nine’s Married at First Sight maintained its figures) and Bride and Prejudice lifted a little as well. MKR managed 1.99 million national viewers (and that will rise well above 2 million next Tuesday when the 7 day viewing figures are issued). Married at First Sight managed 1.56 million and Bride and Prejudice hung in there with 1.02 million nationally. Ten’s I’m a Celebrity was the 11th most watched program nationally with 1.01 million.

Ten ended 4th behind the ABC for the second night in a row this week, even though some of the ABC’s news and current affairs stalwarts – Australian Story, 7.30, Four Corners and Media Watch – had fairly low figures, even taking into account the programs on Seven, Nine and Ten in competition. That Ten (apart from a solid effort by I’m a Celebrity) couldn’t move past a weak ABC tells us a lot about the real story at Ten and its programming – weak. Q&A was amusing and dramatic TV, but did it achieve anything much, except a bit more lion baiting?

At breakfast, Sunrise, with 502,000 nationally, beat Today (427,000), but it was a different story in the metros where Today with 294,000 accounted for Sunrise on 279,000 – both lowish figures. In the regions, MKR averaged 615,000, Seven News, 579,000, Home and Away, 513,000, Seven News/Today Tonight, 499,000 and 5th was Married at First Sight with 468,000.
