A very close night ended with Seven just ahead overall. Nine grabbed the demos, though, so it can claim the win and inflict headaches for Seven. My Kitchen Rules was the most watched program nationally with 1.58 million, but Married at First Sight was just 7,000 behind, while in the metros Married was a clearer winner with 1.12 million people, with MKR second on 1.05 million – a 70,000 gap.

I’m a Celebrity’s elimination averaged 1.05 million – more than the lead up which averaged 946,000 nationally – about standard.

In breakfast, Karl Stefanovic’s return hasn’t helped lift Today past Sunrise – which again won nationally (it is more popular in the regions) with 521,000 with Today getting 417,000. In the metros Sunrise managed 296,000, and Today 278,000.

For the ABC it was a weak night. A bad night for the 7pm News, which meant a weak lead in for 7.30, which again fell under half a million metro viewers, ending up with 455,000. The national figure of 717,000 was also poor. 262,000 watching in the regions is a low figure.

The test cricket again rated very well for Fox Sports and Foxtel—- 304,000 was the most for a session, which would easily beat any AFL or NRL game this season.
