On Chris Uhlmann
Shea Mcduff writes: Re. “Rundle: the ABC should dump political editor Chris Uhlmann” (Friday)
The ABC badly needs reform at all levels — from the top down. Uhlmann may be an egregiously obvious symptom of the malaise but he has been enabled by those higher. It should be a high priority of government to render the ABC as an effective medium of information vital to political debate in this country — a role it is not fulfilling currently, and that is the result of long term political machinations.
On the citizenship debacle
Robert Smith writes: Re.”Govt might not lose members over citizenship scandal, but it will lose votes” (Friday)
The participants need some time to get their stories straight. The story this afternoon about Barnaby Joyce receiving a nomination as New Zealander of the Year is an example of what the government will have to endure even after it is resolved. As for Roberts the longer this goes on the worse he looks.
Hands up anyone who thinks that an incoming “Labor” government will cleanse the ABC of toadies, sycophants and arse lickers.
No, nor do I.
