The Final Quarter, a documentary about the miserable way Adam Goodes was treated by AFL fans and the media, garnered 589,000 viewers on Ten last night, beating Seven’s The Front Bar (585,000).
The discussion after The Final Quarter, hosted by The Project’s Waleed Ali, got 393,000 — an intelligent discussion on the issues raised in the film. Should AFL-happy Nine or Seven have broadcast the documentary? Foxtel/Fox Sports and Sky News wouldn’t have had the guts to show it — too many ghosts and reminders. Seven should have bought and broadcast it, if only to prove its independence from the AFL.
Meanwhile, it was Seven’s night with a clean sweep. In regional markets it was Seven’s 6pm news on 576,000, Seven News/Today Tonight with 551,00, The Chase Australia 5.30pm with 386,000, Home and Away with 348,000 and the 7pm ABC News with 299,000.

For Australia to Reconcile with Indigenous peoples we need truth telling, holding a mirror up requires reflection and deep listening, a skill many people are void of doing.
We saw the truth, now as a nation we need to reflect and put mechanism in place to ensure this type of racism and bullying is never repeated again.
ditto cleonie.quayle@yahoo.com If only this were possible just look at the racist rabble in our government walking out of parliament when the PM apologised to the first nations peoples! These people are supposed to lead a nation in unity however the truth is the complete opposite. The indigenous children in detention centres and violence against them tells the reality of Australia’s bigotry.
