Dog bites man Yesterday Adani Australia lashed out at ABC journalist Stephen Long over a story that hadn’t even been published.
“Stephen has often omitted facts provided to him by Adani to create a negative perception of our business,” Adani said via Twitter. A statement then shared responses to questions Long asked about its planned Godda power plant.
Long, a veteran investigative reporter, told Crikey: “It’s pretty outrageous to essentially try to gaslight an organisation and undermine a story by publicly releasing a response before the story has even been published.”
It’s not the first time Adani has attacked Long and his ABC colleagues for doing their job. In 2017, while reporting in Adani’s home state of Gujarat, Long and a Four Corners team were questioned by local police who deleted some of their footage.
Adani has also attempted to use Freedom of Information laws to access documents on the ABC’s reporting on the company, one element of the “attack dog” legal strategy employed by its law firm AJ & Co. Adani’s media team, led by long-term mining industry spinner Kate Campbell, seems to be playing attack dog too.
News Corp word salad News Corp global CEO Robert Thomson has appeared on the Fox News website to outline, in clear, simple terms how his company expects to be paid for its journalism content from tech giants like Facebook and Google.
A general understanding amongst savvy media companies that some of our credulous colleagues have in the past been digital dilettantes. And this confluence of consciousness, actually, as you say, one would not have happened without Rupert, or Lachlan, frankly, and the astute activism of a feisty few at News Corp over more than a decade — because we’ve been contending with literally battalions of lawyers and legions of lobbyists dragooned by big digital … And there are as well the mindless myrmidons in the pay of Silicon Valley who are themselves exasperated that justice is a little closer to being done, i.e. content being paid for. And that the solipsistic sophistry of the past has been revealed as more vacuous than virtuous.
Thomson had a long and distinguished career reporting for publications like The Sydney Morning Herald and Financial Times. We can’t find any record of his use of “confluence of consciousness” or “mindless myrmidons” in his journalism.
The anti-vax goldmine The anti-vax movement is growing and Silicon Valley is profiting off it, a new report from the Centre for Countering Digital Hate says. Anti-vaxxer social media accounts collectively have 58 million followers, a net increase of nearly 20% since 2019.
Despite promises from people like Mark Zuckerberg to curb online disinformation, tech companies are both enabling and monetising the trend. Facebook has refused to remove anti-vax pages, YouTube and Twitter allow targeted ads for anti-vaxxers. Big Tech reportedly makes $1 billion in advertising and other revenue from anti-vaxxers.
All this could have disastrous public health consequences — 31% of British and 41% of American respondents to the Centre’s survey won’t get a COVID-19 vaccine.
UTS Academic gets reprieve The University of Technology Sydney has lost an appeal over a Fair Work Commission ruling that it unfairly dismissed an academic for not publish enough.
Lucy Zhao, a business school lecturer was sacked by UTS last year for not getting published in top academic journals. Zhao won reinstatement in March, after the FWC upheld her unfair dismissal claim.
UTS appealed, arguing the tribunal made errors and took into consideration irrelevant considerations, including observations about academia’s “ruthless” obsession with research output.
The full bench found these observations were “inconsequential musings” which did not influence its final decision.
Adani on ‘anybody else omitting facts’ re their operations – does irony get any ‘worth Cayman banking’ richer?

And your point is?
Not everyone is as brain-washed and indoctrinated on the benevolence of vaccines as your good self, Kishor, and many of the other journalists here at Cky as well. This “independent” webzine is in lockstep with the MSM in this regard.
Some “independent” research surely would n’t go astray, if for nothing else, just some healthy balance.
Benefit of vaccines and consequences for dummies. I had kids in my class with polio, my children did not. 80 kids dies in Samoa last year because they were not vaccinated against measles. Pre-vaccine, measles killed about 300 kids in Australia each year and probably about the same as a result of its long term effects over the following two years. It rarely kills anybody. Do you have kids? Id you do I will share with you that my parents lived in terror of outbreaks of Diptheria, Measles Whooping Cough and Polio which would sweep the country. Look in an old cemetery and see how many under fives lie there. I wonder how many children have died needlessly after Andrew Wakefield’s fraud. He was involved in pushing a vaccine in which he had an interest. Go and find out what the pre vaccine days were like, then come back. That vaccines have made a major difference is beyond scientific dispute. Would you get a tetanus shot? How about if a bat bit you and you might get lyssa virus? Neither is a pleasant death and death is the likely result in both.
The bat must have already bitten you. You call me a dummie because my research allows me a different opinion – delerium from that bat bight must have set in already.
The issue with Wakefield has been long resolved here on Cky many moons ago. Perhaps you were n’t looking. Or reading – can you read? Yet you ignore the corruption and maleficence of vaccine producers not just in third world countries but most nations across the planet. Planet earth that is, not planet MSM where you get your pharmaceutical press releases from.
Please give me times and dates on all the other selected rubbish you assert…then we discuss.
OGBO/ BenedictA – some of your examples resemble the logic of the illogical statement/question. During the first year of life, a significant number of babies that have been vaccinated suffer serious life-threatening illnesses and medical events such as Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), Autism and lets not forget the “children of Thalidomide .”..too much other information to list.
Additionally, it’s during the first year that congenital conditions may become evident. Therefore many babies will experience a medical event in close proximity to a vaccination. This is beyond coincidence and the independent research is staggering in connecting the dots to vaccines.
Look it up and search it out. You can be nothing but convinced. Unless of course you happen to be a political industrial medical & health complex ideologue or you are a journalist and you are paid to write pharmaceutical
advertorials without knowing it, or as with you Old Grey bearded One – cash for comments. bwahahah
Does anyone take an online survey seriously?
“Facebook has refused to remove anti-vax pages, YouTube and Twitter allow targeted ads for anti-vaxxers.”
Wow, so all of a sudden anti-vaxxers have no human rights, freedom of choice, must be subjects of discrimination and you want prohibition on any anti-vax advertising to boot. I am in absolute shock.
Like a lot of people I aint no anti-vaxxer, but like a lot of people I am certainly pro-choice not just with vaccines but a whole range of issues that confront us daily in this thing called life.
You might want to re-write that article.
The trouble with being unvaccinated is that you endanger others, not only yourself.
Leave ’em Woop, they ain’t worth the effort.
So many weirdos have popped up here since the desperate search for new subscribers.
Today’s edition only had two NO COMMENT ALLOWED articles – the continuing tedious Rush rehash and a quite appalling attack on some biz type by Perrett.
This latter was unsettlingly similar to the sort of garbage usually found in the terrorgraph.
Not a good look.
“A bit sad? What’s sad is that an ageing, balding, portly, pasty, pompous man thinks he needs help to ward off the hordes of nubile young women conniving to get their hands on him.”
I did n’t know Perret was talking about you.
For some light reading from an “investigative” journalist look up Jane Burgermeister
“(NaturalNews) As the anticipated July release date for Baxter’s A/H1N1 flu pandemic vaccine approaches, an Austrian investigative journalist is warning the world that the greatest crime in the history of humanity is underway. Jane Burgermeister has recently filed criminal charges with the FBI against the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations (UN), and several of the highest ranking government and corporate officials concerning bioterrorism and attempts to commit mass murder. She has also prepared an injunction against forced vaccination which is being filed in America. These actions follow her charges filed in April against Baxter AG and Avir Green Hills Biotechnology of Austria for producing contaminated bird flu vaccine, alleging this was a deliberate act to cause and profit from a pandemic.”
