Again only one program of note: The Masked Singer. The reveal averaged 1.24 million nationally, down 71,000 from a week ago. The lead-up had 1.09 million, down as well. Nine won total people and the main channels, Ten won the demos (easily) but its total people and main-channel shares fell noticeably, as did the ABC’s.
And that was the night. Nothing else was worth noting except the ABC’s eco-warrior series Fight for Planet A, 662,000 last night — well down from the debut 803,000 last week. Anh’s Brush With Fame before it had 879,000, also down from the 986,000 a week earlier.
Nine boasted about how well Today (326,000 national and and 230,000 metro) did in the demos and on the east coast — folks, it’s a national TV market. Sunrise is ahead (454,000 national and 252,000 metro) and News Breakfast was third (331/221,000).
In regional markets it was Seven News 628,000, Seven News 6.30, 589,000, Home and Away 386,000, 7pm ABC News 372,000, and The Chase Australia 5.30pm 351,000.

I’m sorry the ‘Fight for Planet A’ didn’t get more viewers as so much work has gone into that program to make it interesting and not too ‘scary’. I hope schools show it to all their students as it is a worthwhile look at how our foolish politics is wrecking our children’s future.
We don’t want to hear more about climate change (even though the media has been so so slack in highlighting world problems. Apart from the committed few, we middle class will do the recycling, plant flowers etc to encourage bees and birds, get solar panels, even electric cars but that’s about all. We’ve worked all our lives to achieve our comfortable lifestyle, and financial benefits, so we will trust the current govt. to look after us. We also don’t want alarming youtube videos showing disasters occurring elsewhere (all due to climate change) – they could be fake news or heaven forbid, some nations even have taken steps to alter their pollution! What next? Revolution (in a minor key of course) where we lose our lifestyle? Never. Let’s keep consuming to keep businesses viable. That’s our role as we watch vacuous TV programmes and post our comments on social media. There’s no hope for change. We are too comfortable.
“Eco-warrior series” – that’s a bit glib isn’t it?
It’s an informative and well put together series. You can have your bread and circuses and Masked Singer absurdities, I’ll tend to choose TV that might enlighten me.
