Crikey reporters Charlie Lewis and Amber Schultz and the merry gang of Crikey journos came together to celebrate making it to the end of 2020, and reflect on the year that was!

The stellar line-up of Crikey journos shared their favourite Crikey story of the year:

They managed to condense the shit-show that was 2020 into a one hour whirlwind breakdown. Starting with bushfires in January to Gladys admitting pork-barrelling was totally fine in November, the journos unpacked the huge stories of the year.

Highlights included the #MeToo movement, Black Lives Matter, COVID-19, corruption, climate change, and Scott Morrison’s bizarre link to a conspiracy theory.

Amber Schultz covered health and social affairs for Crikey. In 2022 she was awarded a Young Walkley Award for her on-the-ground coverage of the Ukrainian refugee crisis, and has been shortlisted for four other Young Walkleys. In 2021 she was awarded the 2021 Mumbrella Young Writer of the Year for her coverage of sexual violence, and in 2018 completed the Jacoby-Walkley scholarship. She holds master's degrees in journalism and international relations.

Charlie pens Crikey's Tips and Murmurs column and also writes on industrial relations, politics and culture. He previously worked across government and unions and was a researcher on RN's Daily Planet. He currently co-hosts Spin Cycle on Triple R radio.
