MAFS again meant it was Nine’s night again, followed by Seven, with ABC and Ten battling for third and fourth. MAFS averaged 1.18 million nationally. It fell to second in the metros (891,000) behind Seven News (934,000) after topping Monday and Tuesday nights.
Ten started a gameshow called The Cube and got 782,000 nationally. Let’s wait till next week to see how many return. It’s The Masked Singer in perspex and with questions — an old UK format.
Welcome back Dr Frasier Crane? Kelsey Grammer is to reprise his key role in a resurrection of the long-running comedy Frasier for Paramount (now owned by ViacomCBS, on Ten here). A remake was first mentioned back in 2019 with the first ep on air in 2020. That timeline has obviously been tossed. Remakes are always problematic and to try and bring back Frasier, one of the classic comedies of TV, will be a big ask. Even Warner/HBO is only trying for a reunion special of Friends, which has been delayed and delayed.
In regional markets it was Seven News with 505,000; Seven News 6.30; 474,000, Home and Away, 343,000; 7pm ABC News, 324,000; MAFS, 299,000.
