MAFS (1.38 million nationally and number four) won it for Nine, but looked a nasty, irrelevant program against the latest round of disclosures on Four Corners (1.09 million and a top ten national finish) and the revelations on Ten News.

Four Corners, on the fallout of sexual assault scandals in Parliament, saw its audience leap from 667,000 a week ago to 1 million last night. That’s a rise of 50%, which tells a lot about the interest in this story and Four Corners’ credibility.

The heavy rain and floods in NSW and south-east Queensland saw an appreciable jump in breakfast audiences — upwards of 180,000 to 200,000 people in the morning as coverage extended past 9am. In the evening the national audiences for Nine, Ten and Seven and the ABC News were up by close to 500,000, with Nine News viewer numbers rising the most (280,000).

Breakfast had Sunrise, 496,000 national and 289,000 metro; Today, 365,000/250,000; and News Breakfast, 327,000/216,000.

Regional five were Seven News, 599,000; Seven News 6.30, 588,000; Home and Away, 367,000; 7pm ABC News, 364,000; Inside Chernobyl, 336,000.
