Crikey reported on May 4 that Greg Combet was remunerated $118,000 for his role as a COVID-19 commissioner. This figure was sourced from the government’s AusTender website. Crikey now understands that this figure is wrong, and that Combet was remunerated a total of $38,000 for his work with the commission, plus GST. Crikey invites other COVID commissioners to come forward and correct AusTender and/or our reporting.
Clarification: Greg Combet and the COVID Commission
A clarification regarding a recent Crikey story.

Greg Combet was a serious loss to Labour as being one of the only, at least nominally, data and science literate MPs when in parliament.
Be interested to know why he left the Covid Commission prematurely and what they were actually doing?
I thought that Combet would have made an effective Prime Minister with his competence and high integrity. Unfortunately he did not “market” himself. A great loss to Australian politics and the development of Australian strategic thinking.
