If you could change just one thing about Australia, what would it be?
Bringing civility back — not just to the political discourse but to life in general. We need to heal as a country and we can do this by listening better and understanding more.
What is the worst thing anyone has ever said to you?
You tend to have interesting conversations with people when you’re a candidate. Queenslanders are frustrated, they are angry. Who wouldn’t be with nearly a decade of the Morrison government?
What is the best thing that has ever happened to you?
It sounds clichéd, but the day I got married and the days our kids were born — hands down the best days ever.
Who or what do you see as the biggest threat to Australia?
Climate change. And having a government that doesn’t accept the science.
Which historical figure do you most admire and why?
Nelson Mandela — his ability to forgive and to heal a country was extraordinary.
What would your final meal be?
Going back to my roots, it would have to be a freshly made marinara pasta with a good red wine.
